What is a winkle?

A small snail-like sea critter served with dipping liquid and toothpicks. Access to the winkle is achieved by removing a tiny flap from the shell opening and proceeding to use the toothpick to remove the contents of the shell, dip it into the vinegar and eat!

The game is to try to remove the critter in its entirety...well, while I'd like to consider myself a serious contender in this "war", the winner was... (see next blog post)....
